How to Receive a Car
TANF & FAMILIES AT WORK CLIENTS
Most GNG's clients are referred from the NH TANF or Families at Work (closed TANF client within the last 12 months) programs. Clients coming to GNG via these state programs do not need to contribute any money toward the cost of the vehicle (the cost of transporting and reconditioning the vehicle is covered by funds received from the state of NH).
TANF and Families at Work Clients MUST meet ALL of the following requirements to qualify for a vehicle:
- Applicant's income does not exceed 200% of the current federal poverty level
- Applicant must have a valid New Hampshire driver's license
- Applicant has an acceptable driving record
- Applicant does not have any other vehicle in the household
- Applicant is currently receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and is enrolled in a work-related program or is participating in the Families at Work program

Clients coming to GNG via Jump Start or a sponsoring organization (other than TANF) must not only meet the following criteria, they and the sponsoring organization must assist financially with the procurement and reconditioning of the vehicle. Typically the sponsoring organization pays 40%, the client pays 40%, and GNG pays 20% of the total cost.
Jump Start clients MUST meet ALL of the following requirements to qualify for a vehicle:

How to Apply
- Obtain an application from either a NHEP/DFA caseworker or from your sponsoring organization.
- Complete the application and return it to your caseworker or sponsor.
- Sign the application (must be signed by BOTH the client and the caseworker or sponsor).
- Caseworkers or sponsors should forward the application along with a copy of the client's NH Drivers License, to:
Good News Garage

Manchester, NH 03103
When the completed and signed application is received, we conduct a thorough review and evaluation of the client's application and their transportation needs and work to place each client with an appropriate vehicle. Due to a fluctuating availability of vehicles, the entire process may take several months.
